Don’t have a Hotstar subscription? Stream IPL cricket matches live this season with select Jio plans

Hotstar, the official streaming partner for the Indian Premier League (IPL) has decided to move the match live streams behind a paywall this season.

IPL 2020 is all set to roll from September 19 and millions of cricket fans will be tuning in. However, in case you did not know, Hotstar, the official streaming partner for the Indian Premier League (IPL) has decided to move the match live streams behind a paywall this season.

To watch these matches live, you will have to subscribe to the Disney+ Hotstar’s VIP plan or your access will be confined to five minutes of complimentary access.

Jio has a workaround for its subscribers though. Jio subscribers can live stream IPL matches with select bundles offered by the company for both mobile and JioFiber broadband plans.

Here’s what you need to do –

JioFIber customers who are on the existing ₹849 silver plan, or any other higher plan, can stream the IPL 2020 matches on their devices anyway as these plans offer a complimentary annual subscription to Disney+ Hotstar VIP content.

The ₹849 plan also offers a host of benefits including unlimited internet (up to 800 GB high-speed data monthly at 100 mbps), unlimited voice calling and access to premium OTT applications like Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLiv, SunNxt, Voot, AltBalaji, Lionsgate, Shemaroome, JioCinema, JioSaavn and others.

Smartphone users on Jio mobile plans can subscribe to an existing special bundled plan and live stream the matches. For this they need to recharge with the ₹401 pack which provides a complimentary subscription to Disney+ Hotstar VIP.

In addition, this ₹401 plan also offers 90 GB high-speed 4G data (3 GB daily high-speed data for 28 days with an extra 6 GB high-speed data), Other benefits of the plan include unlimited free calling within Jio network and 1,000 calling minutes to other networks and complimentary access to premium Jio apps like Jio Cinema, Jio TV, Jio Saavn, JioNews and others.

The 13th edition of the IPL is going to be held from September 19 to November 10. This will include 10 doubleheaders. It will be a 53-day tournament which will feature 10-afternoon matches kicking off at 15:30 PM IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 PM IST.

The IPL 2020 final will be played on November 10.
