Dr. Taposh Kumar Paul, B.Com (Hons), M.Com, MBA, M.Phil, Ph.D, ACMA is currently serving an Associate Professor at the Department of Commerce in Gour Mohan Sachin Mandal Mahavidyalaya under the University of Calcutta, West Bengal, India. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor on 19thJuly 2005 and was promoted to Associate Professor on 19th July 2018. He obtained his B.Com (Hons) degree from Goenka College of Commerce in 1996 and received gold medal being ranked 1st class first. After completing his graduation degree, he joined in the service of the Department of Posts, Government of India, on 08.10.1996 and simultaneously continuing his higher education. Serving in the office at day time and attending evening classes, he obtained his masters degree (M.Com) from the University of Calcutta. He also obtained his M.Phil degree from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. Then he obtained MBA from IGNOU and Ph.D from NSOU, Kolkata. Then he passed Cost & Management Accountancy examination from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and also attained all India rank 5th in that examination. Having passion in the teaching, learning and research, he resigned from the service of the Govt.of India on 18.7.2005 and joined in the department of Education as an Assistant Professor. He has keen interest in agricultural and aquaculture research. His research area is how to make agricultural/aquaculture sector profitable and how to reduce environmental or social costs in this sector. He has published many books and also research articles in various reputed journals. He has also presented many of his research papers in different national and international seminars and conferences. In his academic position, he served as a ‘Bursar’ of the college for 15 years and also ‘Teacher-in-Charge’ for three years giving financial and academic leadership. He is a member of the ‘The Institute of Cost Accountants of India’. He has also been working as guest faculties of the ‘Institute of Cost Accountants of India’, IGNOU and Sikkim Manipal University for many years.
