Presently, Dr Balaji Padya is in a Senior Scientist position at the Centre for Carbon Materials, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Balapur Post, Hyderabad-500 005. He has obtained PhD degree from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. He has 16 years of experience in carbon research and development, which includes synthesis, characterization and applications of low-dimensional carbon materials (graphene platelets, carbon nanotubes, graphene oxide, carbon spheres and expanded graphite-derivatives) for field emission, nanolubrication, supercapacitor, Li-ion battery and functional nanocomposites. 41 papers in reputed journals, 3 book chapters and many invited talks to his credit. He is having Life member of the Indian Carbon Society, Life member of Materials Research Society of India and Materials Research Society-Singapore (2015-16). He has been awarded DRDO-sponsored, ISRO-sponsored, DST-sponsored and a few private agency-sponsored projects for product development.
