DR.Nandha Kumar Selvam has won the title of ISSN 2023 under “International Best Researcher Award”. He works as Registrar in Emergency Medicine at the Kovai Medical Center & Hospitals(KMCH), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu since October 20, 2022.
He completed his M.B.B.S.(Bachelor of Medical, Bachelor of Surgery) at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (September 2012 to March 2018). Later, he began his medical career as a duty medical officer(April 2018 to December 2018) at Shanmugapriya Nursing Home, Peelamedu, Coimbatore and Casualty medical officer (January 2019 to September 2019) at KMCH Sulur hospital. Further, he completed his post-graduate studies of Masters in Emergency Medicine(M.E.M. CCT-EM), recognized by the SEMI (Society for Emergency Medicine India) board at Kovai Medical Center and Hospitals, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (October 2019 to September 2022).
During his undergraduate residential internship, he took part in a human resources development workshop in July 2017 and in multidisciplinary clinical simulation sessions in September 2017. During his postgraduate residential period, He has attended national conferences like TRAUMA 2021 (virtual), EMCON 2021 (virtual), WACEM 2021 (virtual) and EMCON 2022. He has also done dissertation work on “Utility of the modified shock index in combination with serum lactate for the early resuscitation of sepsis patients in the emergency room” and Journal club discussion on article, entitled “”The impact of early thromboelastography directed therapy in trauma resuscitation”. In addition, he has presented papers entitled “Modified shock index as an ED prognostic tool in septic shock “ at the 23rd annual conference of SEMI, EMCON 2021.
He is also the AHA certified provider of Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He has attended the POCUS Emergency Medicine workshops in September 2022 at SRM Global Hospital, Chennai and Golden hours gaurdian meet (KEMCON23) in April 2023 at Dr.Kamakshi Memorial Hospital, Chennai. He also delivered a lecture on “Approach to Acute Respiratory illness” at the AEME conference held at Coimbatore during February 2023. He was a member of the organizing committee of AMTEC (Acute management of Trauma in emergent conditions) CME program held at KMCH in March 2023 and provided hands-on workshop training on “Central venous line utilization in emergency room”. In addition to the above accomplishments, he had published his first case report, entitled “Peculiar association of pulmonary embolism with evolved inferior wall myocardial infarction” (DOI:10.32677/ijcr.v8i7.3501) and his second case report, entitled “Evaluation of massive hemoptysis with high suspicion for alveolar hemorrhage in the emergency room”(https://doi.org/10.18231/j.ijirm.2022.037).
