Sunita Jhulki

My name is Sunita Jhulki. I am a senior PhD scholar and DST Inspire Fellow in the department of Zoology, Diamond Harbour Women’s University, India. I have completed my Master’s degree in Zoology (Genetics special) from Diamond Harbour Women’s University. I have been awarded gold medal for securing in 1st position in M.Sc. (Zoology) examination for the session 2018-2020. I have completed my Bachelor of science from University of Calcutta, West Bengal. I have been awarded “Golapbala Mondal Memorial” award for excellent results in Secondary examination (2013) from Apurba Memorial General Library, West Bengal. I am pursing my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Aparajita Pal (Assistant Professor). My primary area of research is the development of anticancer drugs and nanomedicines. My current experimental study is expected to develop a cheap effective phytochemical based treatment to combat cancer and cancer stem cells. Hopefully, we will be able to find a new ray of hope for patients suffering from cancer.
I have published numerous research articles and book chapters in reputed journals. “Exploring the Potential of Phytochemicals Derived from Indian Medicinal Plants for Management and Treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme Based on In Vitro Studies” was recently (2024) published in a reputed international journal (Journal of herbal medicine). “Exploration of the therapeutic effects of dietary flavonoid rutin” was published in International Academic Publishing House, 2024, Life as Basic Science: An overview and prospects for the future volume:1. “Current Prospects of Phytochemical-Based Treatment for Ovarian Cancer: A Brief Review” was published in Indian Journal of Gynecologic Oncology (2023). “Deciphering the pharmacotherapeutic aspects of an ethnomedicinal plant Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi)”, a book chapter was published in International Academic Publishing House, 2023, The Basic Handbook of Indian Ethnobotany and Traditional Medicine. “A comprehensive analysis of ethnopharmacological and pharmacotherapeutics of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal (Ashwagandha)” was published in International Academic Publishing House, 2022, The Basic Handbook of Indian Ethnobotany and Traditional Medicine, Vol. 1. “The Dynamic Role of Reactive Oxygen Species in Relation to Ovarian Cancer” was published in The Role of Reactive Oxygen Species in Health and Disease, 2024 Nova Science Publishers.
I am attending many conferences and workshops. I won 1st place in the one-day national symposium and poster competition on “Evolution of homo sapiens: Through the looking-glass of ancient DNA”, organized by Indian National Science Academy (INSA)-Kolkata chapter in collaboration with Diamond Harbour Women’s University, 25th November, 2022. I won 1st position in the one-day international seminar & poster presentation competition on “Impact of modern civilization on health and disease”, organized by Department of Zoology, in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Gurudas college, Kolkata on 12th May, 2023. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, dancing and tending to houseplants.
