Dr. Shamal Vinesh Ramesar holds various academic degrees which includes a Bachelor of Medical Science degree with honors, a Master’s degree in Medicine and a PhD in Physiology. During his studies, he was inducted into the Golden Key International Honors Society for academic excellence. He is well published in the fields of hypertension, pre-eclampsia, phytotherapy and infection prevention. He has presented his research findings at various local and international conferences. He served as an academic at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and then later the University of Johannesburg where he lectured Physiology and Anatomy and held various research roles and research grants. Post academia, he explored corporate interests where he joined 3M Healthcare as their Scientific Affairs Manager for the Infection Prevention Division. He later added on to this role as their National Sales Manager. During his tenure at 3M, he served as Chairman: CSSD Forums of South Africa- Gauteng Chapter, Chairman: 3M Technical Forum (South Africa) and Acting Chairman: IAHCSMM- South Africa. He currently holds the position of Chief Medical Officer at Augustine Medical (South Africa) and serves as the National Chairman for Mediation in Motion Mediators (NPO).
