He graduated from the prestigious Calcutta Medical College (presently Kolkata Medical College), West Bengal, India and subsequently obtained DCH, DTM&H and MD (Pediatric Medicine) from University of Calcutta (presently WBUHS). He has a vast and multi-level working exposure of over 30 years as a Consultant Pediatrician and Neonatologist in several Government Health Institutions starting from a rural primary health centre to district hospitals and different Medical Colleges of West Bengal, India in his carrier. He has authored book chapters and contributed as peer reviewer and published a number of original articles in international journals of repute as the main and corresponding author. Throughout his career, he has always felt a deep passion and interest for research in studying common preventable health care issues affecting newborns and children like maternal eclampsia, prevalent infectious diseases etc., especially in the context of the characteristic lower socio-economic background of India.
